VFY S9, E1: We Have A Home
Location: USS Bushido, various
Location: USS Bushido, Captain Quarters
The USS Bushido was now traveling at work speed and heading to Valhalla Fleet Yards. A few hours had passed since they had left, and Jax was able to get into the Captain's Quarters. They were decent sized, a little on the small side but this was a small vessel so he knew he couldn't be picky. Plus this wasn't his ship. Jax sitting on the sofa reading a story to both children when Dee walked in.
Dee slumped into a comfortable chair.
"Well that's Beta shift now in control. I've had to grasp and learn so much in the last few hours, my head hurts. But I've enjoyed every second. I seem to have a great crew. You three look well settled in. What story are you reading?"
"Just a famous children's the symbiote and the host. The kids want to learn more about your symbiote, I thought good way to start would be to read them this children's book about symbiotes and hosts. They have such curious minds." Jax said to her. This wasn't the first time the kids had talked to about mommy's symbiote and why daddy didn't have one.
"When do you want me to cover a bridge shift? It's going to take a couple days to get to the fleet yards." Jax asked, "before you ask I verified that the holo-nanny program is working." But he didn't tell her was the children called her Mrs Smarty Pants.
"Sounds a good book. We can talk about mommy's Symbiont sometime. As for covering the bridge, you're welcome to take Delta shift you want. It's currently still being sorted out."
Dee replied.
"Isn't that the night shift?" Jax suggested to her, with a questionable smile on his face. He didn't like that he had working opposite shifts over but he also knew. it might be what she needs. He is soon to be in some kind of hybrid some between Alpha and beta but he could do Delta if she really needed him to.
" Yes, but there is options for Alpha and Beta shifts as well. "
"It's like you read my mind honey, I hate to be a burden but I would prefer that shift. I want to be able to spend a little bit of time with you." Jax said as he noticed that the kids started to get animated, their boy wanted to show Mom around the room. Jax thought it was adorable that their son wanted to play tour guide.
"I know. See let me know if you want Alpha or Beta shift and I will sort it. In the meantime, I'm going on a guided tour of our quarters." She paused, took her son's hand. "Lead the way young man. ". She gestured as Velo took his mother straight to their bedroom where he and his sister had bunk beds.
" Oh how cool is this. Which is your bunk? " She asked. " I am on the top mom, as I am the eldest and Lara doesn't like being up there. "
"Oh I see. I've only ever slept in a bunk bed once as that was when I wasn't much older than you are right now. We were on a camping trip and the cabin we stayed in had bunks for the kids and normal beds for adults. I wouldn't fit in a bunk bed today. "
Velo then lead her to her's and Jaxon's room. " This room is for you and Daddy. It's a nice room, your bed is big. " He exclaimed.
"Yes, plenty of room for cuddle times for all of us. " Dee replied.
Once they finished the tour, they returned to the lounge where Jax was on the couch with Lara on his lap.
"Mommy's room does have one nice feature that huge bathtub. I'm only going to say this once I only take bubble baths by myself." Jax said as he looked at both of his children. You wouldn't mind Dee taking a bubble bath with him, but it wouldn't be appropriate for him to show favoritism at this very moment.
Kids from a young age didn't believe in personal space or privacy. And now that they had a huge bathtub in the bath room, a perk for being a captain of a Starship. He looked to Dee, to see if she would back him.
"I also prefer my alone time in the bath, especially with some fragrant oils." She replied.
Jax smiled, as he thought about the love of his life soaking in a bathtub. He knows that both kids are awfully quiet, but their eyes seem to be darting all over the room trying to soak everything in.
Needing to move the conversation forward, Jax hurry up and got the children settled into their room has he gave Dee a moment to breathe.
Location: USS Bushido, Mess Hall
"Hey you still owe me a physical!" Kyle said as he looked over to Lisa Read. He was not sure why she was putting it off. But she had just arrived on to the ship back on 400. Maybe she assumed he thought that she didn't have to do one because she was on 400 previously. Or maybe she just didn't like physicals. It was hard for him to know for certain. But his job is chief medical officer, required him to track down every crew member. Even the cute ones sitting in the mess hall.
"I do? My apologies Doctor. I've been somewhat busy recently since we picked up the captain and her family. When can you fit me in? " Read replied.
"Please call me Kyle, doctor just seems so formal." He said with the big smile on his face, and he just slid into the chair next to her. "I hope you don't mind if I sit here and eat with you, I hate eating alone."
"Of course not, um Kyle. Take a seat."
"Thanks, I mean that. What a hectic couple days huh. Dragging in a one-star Admiral to Starbase 400, just to turn around and take a right back to Valhalla Fleet Yards." Kyle suggested, knowing that she was the helms woman for the Bushido.
" I know. Bit of a palarva to be honest with you but that's my job. How was your day?" She asked, tucking into her pasta salad.
"Long, but I think that should be expected when you're trying to track everybody down and get them to do their physicals. Sorry I'm not here to complain about work, I am excited though. A new ship and new opportunity and a station. Think I'm going to like this assignment." Kyle suggested to her.
" Indeed. Speaking of physicals, when would you like to see me for mine?"
Kyle smiled, just the way she asked it brought a smile to his face. He quickly pushed that thought to the side knowing that he had to be serious. "Do you have time this afternoon?" Kyle asked, hoping she was say yes. He really didn't want to be a stickler. Think we should get a dentist soon as we can but I also understand if you have responsibilities. They were just at lunch right now, so if she could get it done tonight.
" Actually yes. I am free after 15:00. Would that work for you?" Lisa asked.
"It does." Kyle said what the warm smile as the two of them continue talking.
Location: USS Bushido, Captain Quarters
Short time later Jax leave the kids bunk room, and crawls up on the bed next to Dee. "They're going to be distracted for a little while. Today has been a lot." Jax said not exactly sure how to dress the fact that he could feel and sense that Dee was a bit overwhelmed. He would be too if Carol had done to him what she had done to his wife.
" Sounds good. What ... A ... Day. I did not see any of that coming at all. If someone, a few days ago, had told me what was going to happen today, I'd have laughed in their face. I'm overwhelmed, yes, but this is so exciting. The future is opening up for us and it's going to be quite a ride. Anyway, any chance of a massage? " She asked.
"I would love a massage." Jax said with the teasing grin on his face. He pretended like he was going to get ready to receive a massage, and then he turned around and grabbed her shoulders and started to work his magic with fingers. He gently laid her down on the bed and she spun around belly first allowing him full access to her back.
" Oh that's good. Yeah that's just what I need. Don't let my uniform get in your way. " She added.
"Being a captain has its perks, I mean seriously this room is nice. I love the little bunk room that they added. And it's still spacious enough and this whole quarters it doesn't feel cramped for four people living here." Jax said knowing that he wouldn't be living there full time just went time allotted. Seeing how spacious these quarters were but yet small he was very impressed with what starfleet had put together for them.
"I wonder what our family quarters will be like when we reach Valhalla Fleet Yards. " She replied as Jax continued her massage.
"I'm not sure, but seeing how you're going to be a station Commander I see them being big with lots of space. They'll probably make these quarters which are already nice and comfortable and cozy seem like a closet." Jax said, as he imagined what the room could potentially look like in his head. His fingers started to dig deep into her tense muscles.
She felt his fingers dig in. "Unnnnh yeah. Just there. Right there." She glanced at the door to their children's bunk room. "How distracted did you say our kids would be?" She asked.
"Very distracted, they're both watching movies with their little headphones on in their bunks they think it's so cool. So I came back in here they kind of kicked me out and started ignoring me." Jax said, edit fingers continue to work their magic into her muscles pulling out the knots she had in her back and in her shoulders.
"Good. I think it's safe for me to get out of my uniform then."
Jax just grinned as he helped her slowly peel off the layers of her uniform, as he kissed her neck and her shoulders and her arms trying to be cute and romantic. He is practically hovering on top of her without putting any weight while still working on removing her clothing layers one at a time.
Some time later....
When the scene picks up again, they're both lying on the bed. Both exhausted, Jax had his fingers through her sweaty hair. "That was incredible, I can't believe the kids let us finish that." He said, hoping they wouldn't jump through the door, but then he remembered he had locked it, so they would have to knock.
"Yeah, I was kind of expecting them to rush in, but thankfully, you locked the door. But they seem to be too engrossed in whatever they are doing to care. " Dee commented.
"Maybe you should get a new command every day." Jax said with the warm smile on his face, as he continue to stroke her hair and looking into her eyes. "I'm so proud of you my love."
"Ha ha. I think that might be a bit a challenge my love. I'm actually quite proud of myself too. It's been quite a day but wow. "
"Shall we get the kids ready and go out to dinner or do you want to stay in the bed for a while?" Jax asks as the scene starts to fade away.
" Yeah, I'm starving."
